Special Medical Emergency Procedures
EMS Operations
1. Operations
Emergency Medical Transportation Services at football events are provided by Carle Arrow Ambulance Service.
Medical responses to game participants are provided by team trainer staff, team physicians, and an ambulance, all of which are stationed on the field.
Medical responses in the seating areas are provided by EMS teams stationed throughout the stadium in vomitories with red railings. EMS teams will generally remove ill or injured patrons to one of the first aid rooms (East and West Great Hall areas). If transport or additional care is needed the stadium ambulance crew can respond to the appropriate first aid room.
Medical responses in the parking lots are provided by mobile EMS teams with support from gator/golf cart teams of the ambulance company and/or fire department.
In general, EMS services will be provided within the boundaries of the attached map; however, designated football parking lots outside of the boundaries of the map will also receive medical response from Stadium resources if they are available and appear to be the closet unit. If a location is unknown or in question, the UIPD or UIEM representative in the stadium command post will make a determination of the appropriate jurisdiction.
All EMS calls will be assessed by the ambulance company representative and the fire officer in the Stadium Command Post. The assessment will be based on existing emergency medical dispatch (EMD) protocols utilizing the information known at the time. EMS will be the first assistance dispatched to calls designated as Alpha or Bravo. Fire and/or Ambulance personnel will be dispatched to calls requiring a higher level of care. The overall goal of all EMS operations is to provide the quickest and most appropriate level of care to the patient. Stadium Command Post representatives from the fire department, ambulance companies and EMS will coordinate to determine the appropriate level of response from the closest possible responder.
Two major hospital emergency facilities are located within one mile of the stadium facility.
